Being short on time doesn’t mean that you have to make a dinner that is short on flavor. This recipe for an easy ground beef stroganoff has all the elements which we all crave in a satisfying comfort food meal: it’s rich and creamy, nostalgic, and warms you all over. You can also brighten it with parsley, veggie it up with peas, or spice it up with crushed red pepper.


3 tablespoon butter

8 oz sliced mushrooms

1 small onion diced

2 garlic cloves minced

l pound ground beef 3 tablespoons flour

1/2 cup red wine

2 cups beef broth

1 cup sour cream (room temperature)

2 teaspoon minced rosemary

Dash Worcestershire sauce (to taste)

Salt and pepper

8 oz cooked egg or other noodles


In a large saute pan melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and saute until browned. Remove from pan.

Melt remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the pan and add onions and garlic. Saute until soft.

Add ground beef and stir until cooked through. Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.

Add wine to deglaze the pan, reducing by half. Add broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until sauce thickens.

Remove pan from heat. Mix in the sour cream, cooked mushrooms, and rosemary. Season with salt and pepper and Worcestershire to taste.

Serve over cooked pasta.
